Hi there…

I’m Martha Baines, a Bristol-based illustrator, originally from London. After working in Set Design and Art Direction for film I upped sticks and moved to Bristol to pursue a career in illustration.

I’m fascinated by people and stories. I feel drawn to emotions and narrative in my work as well as finding inspiration in architectural shapes, natural forms and the simplicity of everyday objects.

I like to combine bold shapes with soft textures, often including hand drawn pattern, celebrating graphic simplicity whilst retaining a sense of playfulness and warmth.
